Eva-Last Celebrates 20 Years of Innovation, Sustainability, and Outdoor Living

This year, Eva-Last celebrates a remarkable milestone: 20 years of redefining outdoor spaces while championing sustainability and innovation. What began as the passion of a few young South Africans determined to save trees, while preserving the beauty and functionality of timber decks, has grown into a globally recognised company, delivering reliable composite outdoor building products to homes and businesses across the world.
Eva-Last’s journey is guided by the four core values of sustainability, innovation, accountability, and customer excellence. These principles have allowed the company to adapt, grow, and inspire the industry, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing outdoor living solutions but in an environmentally responsible way.
Our Early Years
In 2006, Eva-Last’s founders recognised a need for sustainable, durable decking that overcame the challenges of traditional timber. With a clear vision, a company was born, that would soon become Africa’s largest decking business. Eva-Last entered the market with an attractive European wood-plastic composite (WPC) hollow, tongue-and-groove decking profile.
The following year, Eva-Last worked with Sentai WPC, broadening its range to include grooved solid and double-sided boards with hidden clip fastening. This collaboration not only fuelled Eva-Last’s growth but also helped Sentai WPC scale operations.
Innovation and Sustainability at the Core
In 2009, Eva-Last invested in a local composite extrusion factory, creating the Eva-tech Horizon profile. Recognition soon followed. In 2011, the company won the prestigious Green Product Award at the Climate Change Leadership Awards and pledged to reduce emissions while enhancing the environmental benefits of its composites.
After numerous challenges with local manufacture, Eva-Last Hong Kong was formed in a JV partnership with Sentai WPC, increasing production capabilities and expanding the business into the international market.
A focus on innovation continued with the development of RapidRail railing kits, and the launch of capped co-extruded composite decking and HULK fasteners, creating a comprehensive and sustainable product range. This innovation also extended to the production facilities with the installation of 32,858 solar panels in 2014 to reduce electricity consumption and help mitigate environmental impact.
Expanding Horizons
From 2015 onwards, Eva-Last diversified into cladding, fencing, I-Series lightweight I-beam decking profiles, indoor flooring, and hybrid aluminium composite beams, culminating in VistaClad bamboo composite cladding and Lifespan architectural beam systems. By 2020, Eva-Last was distributing to over 30 countries, and in 2023, Eva-Last America expanded further by fully entering the North American and Canadian market.
Looking Ahead
With 20 years behind it, Eva-Last looks forward with optimism and excitement, continuing to combine innovative design, environmental responsibility, and exceptional quality to create outdoor spaces that are beautiful, sustainable, and built to last. Here’s to the next 20 years of enhancing homes and communities worldwide – one deck, one cladding, and one fence at a time.
