WHY BAMBOO

A MORE SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

WHY BAMBOO OVER WOOD

Bamboo is stronger, safer, cleaner, and most importantly, more sustainable compared to wood as a raw ingredient for composite decking. That’s why Eva-Last transitioned from manufacturing Wood Plastic Composite, or WPC, to the more innovative and eco-friendly Bamboo Plastic Composite, or BPC. We’re choosing what’s best for the environment and encouraging others to get on board.

A MORE SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

Sustainability is not just a driving factor, but the driving factor, behind the work we do at Eva-Last. Switching from using reclaimed timber to reclaimed and highly renewable bamboo as one of the raw ingredients in our composite products was the best decision we could make for the environment, and it was right in line with our mission to continually minimise our carbon footprint.

We are now able to offer you superior composite that eliminates the need for felling trees and can withstand the test of time without any harmful chemicals, sealants, or treatments. Our BPC is backed by impressive warranties that show we stand behind the quality of our products.

We pair the natural hardiness of bamboo with creative product design that goes beyond what we once thought was possible in terms of longevity, product span capability, and ease of installation. We recognise that the benefits of using bamboo improve our products and our ecosystem.

BENEFITS OF USING BAMBOO

Eva-Last uses bamboo to create composite that performs better and is better for the Earth. Here are some more reasons why we choose bamboo.

SUSTAINABLE

Bamboo is a type of grass which grows and regenerates extremely quickly, with most species reaching adulthood within 3-5 years. This amazing plant is one of the most environmentally friendly resources on the planet and requires no pesticides or chemical fertilisers to grow. Bamboo keeps our soil stronger, our air cleaner, and our environment healthier.

STRONG

Bamboo is one of the most underrated materials on the planet when it comes to strength. It has a greater tensile strength (resistance to being pulled apart) than steel and can withstand compression better than concrete. These properties make for an ultra-strong finished product.

COOL

Bamboo is known for its incredible cooling effect and its ability to deflect heat more effectively than wood. All natural fibres have a built-in thermostat, and Mother Nature has turned bamboo’s way, way down. This means your deck will be cooler in hot weather and a bit warmer in the cold – just another benefit of using bamboo over wood for composite.

SAFE

Bamboo is an exceptionally clean and safe material. Its fibres contain specialised substance which makes the bamboo organically anti-bacterial and eliminates the need for any chemical treatments. It naturally repels odour and is hypoallergenic when compared to timber. In fact, bamboo fibre is so clean that it is certified by most food agencies as safe to eat.

BAMBOO FACTS

RAINFOREST FACTS

WE BELIEVE IN LESS WASTE

Bamboo can be harvested and made into composite with almost no wastage, greatly reducing the overall emissions necessary to create BPC compared to WPC. This, along, with our company policy of reusing all leftover material, significantly reduces our corporate carbon footprint.

DEDICATED TO DEFEATING DEFORESTATION

Our forests are in danger of disappearing. Every minute a forest the size of twenty football fields is cut down, and humans have already destroyed nearly 90 percent of the planet’s rainforests. Eva-Last recognises deforestation as an imminent threat to the health of our planet, and we are determined to be part of the change that is necessary to preserve, protect, and regrow our forests.

BY OFFERING ECO-FRIENDLY BAMBOO COMPOSITE ALTERNATIVES TO TIMBER DECKING AND OTHER TIMBER BUILDING PRODUCTS, WE ARE CHAMPIONING THE CONCEPT OF LIVING BETTER BY LIVING GREEN.
